I just visited the Legacy Museum and Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama. Bud Mebane’s name was on one of the monuments . I would like to know more about who he was since Caswell County is where I grew up and attended high school. How would the husband and son recognize him as the rapist and murderer of a Mrs. Walker? Why wouldn’t they have tried to stop him? It’s unbelievable! Could this have been the same as so many other lynchings? A jump to a false conclusion?
